When Does Popeyes Stop Serving Breakfast?
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, or Popeyes, is a wildly popular fast-food chain that has been offering delicious food to happy customers for over 50 years (per Nation's Restaurant News). Menu items include Cajun-style fried chicken along with delicious sides, such as mashed potatoes and gravy, red beans and rice, and buttery, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits.
If you are a fan of the restaurant, you probably already have a favorite meal and you know your local restaurant's hours, but did you know that Popeyes also serves breakfast? If that surprises you, you're not alone. In 2013, HuffPost reported that the chain was testing breakfast items in North Carolina. Those items included breakfast sandwiches (made with the famous biscuits), grits, and country-fried steak.
It didn't last long, though. In fact, the whole testing period ran from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. for only two days. From those eight hours, though, Popeyes learned that people do want southern-style breakfast options from a fast-food window, and the chain began offering breakfast. But where can you get breakfast at Popeyes and when does it stop being served?
Breakfast locations are limited
According to HuffPost, Popeyes' breakfast is mostly served at airport locations, such as Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. On the menu, travelers can find the aforementioned chicken biscuit, country-fried steak biscuit, and grits, but the menu has expanded since its test-run in 2013 to now include a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit, biscuits and gravy, chicken wraps, and hash rounds. Those buttery, oh-so-delicious biscuits take center stage for the breakfast menu.
If your mouth is watering for a southern-style breakfast, you should be aware that these meals often come with a lot of calories. Take, for instance, the Egg and Sausage Biscuit sandwich, which boasts a whopping 690 calories, according to Popeyes Full Menu. Even the basic Egg Biscuit has 510 calories. However, there are some options on Popeyes' breakfast menu that are more reasonable with their calories, such as the Breakfast Wrap, which only has 310 calories, and the 400-calorie Bacon Biscuit.
When does Popeyes serve breakfast?
With this menu being served in airports, you'd expect breakfast to be available any time of the day — but it's not. The franchise serves breakfast until 10:30 a.m., seven days a week, per All Hour Guide, but opening times will vary per location. So, in the event you do get to a Popeyes that serves breakfast, you have to get there at the right time to partake.
If you still want to try breakfast at Popeyes, one positive note is that it's affordable. According to Restaurant To Me, Hash Rounds cost between $1.19 to $1.39, breakfast wraps cost $1.99, a combo will be about $4.99, and the Egg Biscuit runs about $0.79. Of course, these prices may differ based on location. If you aren't near a Popeyes that serves breakfast, you can still enjoy its crispy, juicy chicken, popular chicken sandwiches, and southern-inspired sides after 10:30 a.m., when most of the chains open to serve lunch and dinner.
