The Stove-Top Brie That Will Save You Oven Space This Holiday Season
What's better at a holiday gathering — the appetizers beforehand or the main course? This can spark quite the debate among foodies, considering if you do happy hour and snacks properly, they can be quite delicious. So delicious that you may not have even saved enough room to enjoy the main course. Whoops. If you and your family like to serve up baked brie, this may have easily happened at one of your gatherings.
You're not alone if cheese is on the appetizer menu. Dairy consumption has actually increased around the holiday season for three years in a row, according to Dairy Herd. Among some of the best holiday cheeses is baked brie, welcoming a warm, gooey, and cheesy snack to pair with fruits and crackers. Whether you opt for traditional baked brie or spice it up with some pomegranates or fig jam, you can't really go wrong. That is unless you're fighting for oven space because brie usually needs to bake between 25 to 45 minutes.
Thanks to TikTok though, there's a new stove-top brie that will ultimately save that oven space this holiday season.
Blueberry pecan stovetop brie
Are you feeling overwhelmed with needing to make all of your family's favorite holiday dishes? While baked brie is a classic hors d'oeuvre for any gathering, it can be tricky to strategically bake it in the oven when there are bigger main dishes needing to be cooked. Not to worry though – TikToker Justin Schuble, who 1.1 million fans follow for "easy recipes," has shown us how to bake a delicious brie in a pan.
According to Schuble's video, all you need to do is cut up your bread into pieces, line them on a baking sheet, lightly pour some oil of your choice over them, and pop it in the oven for a couple of minutes. Then, take out your brie and cut your vertical creases, ensuring to not cut through the cheese all the way. Grab a bowl and mix blueberries, pecans, and a quarter cup of sugar together. Take a pan, oil it up, lay down the brie and blueberry pecan mix, simmer and cover on the stovetop until the brie is clearly hot and gooey, and then dive in! No need to even transfer this onto a plate — you can dip your bread right into the sizzling pan.
TikTok is impressed
The holiday season has only just begun, so if this piques your interest, you can give it a shot at home. TikTok sure seems excited to make the switch from an oven-baked brie to a stovetop one.
"Oh sweet Jesus. I found my comfort food this weekend," one user commented. "Oh my goodness, I'd make that just for me, but probably shouldn't, so I'll wait until the holidays," another impressed fan said. And yet another said, "ooohhh looks so tempting." You get the picture.
Also, you can totally swap in the blueberries or pecans for your preference of mix-ins. One TikToker user even commented that using cranberries would be a great alternative to use for this recipe. "Again, I would do cranberries," the user said on the recipe video. While it's shown that you can easily cook brie on the stovetop, experiment with your favorite brie recipe and save that oven space for the main course.
