Make Homemade Hot Cocoa Bombs With Nothing But A Paper Cup
Almost nothing beats the experience of enjoying a classic cup of hot chocolate in winter. A warm mug of chocolatey indulgence amidst frigid temperatures is enough to lift anyone out of a seasonal slump. According to The Washington Post, chocolate is even scientifically proven to make you happier, aiding neurotransmitters in the production of serotonin. We'd say that's enough of an excuse to have a sip of hot cocoa a day right?
One of the biggest things to come out of 2019 was a fun twist on the making of a traditional hot chocolate: the hot cocoa bomb. The fun new invention gained prominence almost overnight on TikTok and shot the Boise, Idaho-based product into fame, per Cocoa Bombs. Food and beverage companies jumped on the trend and popular eateries around the world started to release their own versions of the treat. Most recently, Dunkin' released its own take on hot chocolate bombs to stores, per Thrillist. But you don't have to solely rely on outside sources for this chocolate treat. You can make your own chocolate bombs at home, and it all begins with a paper cup.
How to turn a paper cup into the perfect chocolate treat
Once again, TikTok is spreading awareness of the chocolate bombs, but this time it's all about how to make the treat at home. To start, you'll need to grab a plastic cup and cut down the seam, via TikTok. Then, tape the seam closed again. (Trust us, this will come in handy later). Now, pour some melted chocolate into the side of your cup to make a mold. Let this sit until it hardens. Once it's ready, cut the tape off the paper cup to reveal your chocolate cup!
Add some cocoa powder to the bottom, and now's your chance to get creative. Throw in some sprinkles, marshmallows, candies, or whatever else you want inside of your hot chocolate. Per Today, you can even make the chocolate bomb extra fancy by piping colored chocolate along the rim. Now put a popsicle stick into the cup as the finishing touch, then cover it all with more melted chocolate. And voila! Your very own homemade chocolate bomb awaits. Simply pour some hot milk over it to release the goodness inside.
