Question Everything You Knew About Bagels With Vegas' Wild Flavors

Bagel purists, gird your loins – Las Vegas is doing something super weird and unorthodox to our favorite hangover cure. No longer are an everything bagel with lox and schmear, or bodega breakfast sandwich the pinnacle of bagel perfection. While some people think you shouldn't mess with a tried and true classic, others are all for innovating and experimenting to create something new, exciting, and delicious. If it happens to be absolutely bonkers and go viral, that's okay, too.

The Bagel Nook has been taking the bagel formula and turning it on its head for a few years since it opened in New Jersey. The owners' mission when they set out was "To create the finest, most craziest bagels this world has ever tasted, end of story," and they have succeeded. After getting noticed by Buzzfeed, the business blew up (via The Bagel Nook). They expanded to a second location in New Jersey, and have now migrated west to Las Vegas, where they set up shop in March 2022 in Summerlin, Nevada (via Bake).

Crazy flavors need to be tried to be believed

The Bagel Nook has an expansive menu, with mainstays like everything, pumpernickel, or whole wheat bagels, and toppings like egg and cheese or plain cream cheese. But then there are the Overloaded bagels with names like The Elvis, which is exactly what it sounds like – peanut butter cream cheese, fresh bananas, and crispy bacon on a French toast bagel; or the Crumb Cake – a French toast bagel with crumb cake cream cheese, and a slice of crumb cake in the middle. Their cream cheese options are numerous and made with a wide range of crazy mix-ins. Ghost pepper, peanut butter fudge, birthday cake, and bacon scallion can be mixed with bagels with breakfast cereals or chips on top, like Coco Puffs, Oreos, Cap'n Crunch, or Flamin' Hot Cheeto. The possibilities are nearly endless (via The Bagel Nook).

The new location in Las Vegas is striking a chord with locals and tourists alike. "Unbelievable! I'm so excited to have this in Summerlin. The choices are endless and everything is so fresh," wrote a Google reviewer. Others aren't so impressed with the huge menu, with one Yelp review saying, "If you want to be a real Bagel place then have your different bagels with lox and the different cream cheeses. I think this place would succeed better with a smaller menu." Perhaps bonkers bagels aren't for everyone.
