Easy Apple Pie Recipe
Cook Time:
1 hour,
15 minutes
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- 8 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 frozen pie crusts, thawed
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg yolk
- Preheat the oven to 375 F.
- Combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Add the apple slices to the flour mixture and use your hands to distribute everything until the apples are well coated.
- Roll out one uncooked pie crust and place it in the bottom of a deep 9-inch pie dish. (You may need a little flour so the pie crust doesn't stick.)
- Add the apple mixture and scatter the small pieces of butter over top.
- Cover the fruit with the second pie crust, crimping the edges with your thumb or a fork.
- Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to vent.
- Brush the top with egg wash.
- Bake the pie at 375 F for the first 15 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to 350 F and continue baking for up to 1 hour, until the top is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
