These Are The Only States Without A Hardee's Location
There's just something about taking the first bite out of juicy cheeseburger that brings about all kinds of happy and good feelings our way. If you're one to crave such a feeling, you may have frequented Hardee's to fulfill those cravings. Since opening its first location in Greenville, North Carolina in 1960, the quick-service hamburger and grill joint has grown to more than 1,800 restaurants throughout the United States (via Hardee's). Even if you find yourself overseas, you might be lucky enough to stumble upon its biscuits, hand-breaded chicken tenders, and 100% angus beef burgers at one of its 13 global locations.
While you may think Hardee's 1,800 U.S. locations are evenly spread out throughout the country, this isn't the case. In fact, there are even some states without a Hardee's location at all, leaving prospective customers without being able to fulfill those cravings at all.
Can you guess which states don't have a Hardee's location?
The six states without Hardee's
According to Money Inc., there are six sad states without a Hardee's location. While the rest of the 44 states and its residents get to enjoy its grill-based food menu, these states are missing out. The states without a Hardee's location are all within the East Coast and New England region, including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and New York. Additionally, these states don't have Hardee's sister company and restaurant, Carl's Jr.'s, either, according to Carl's Jr.'s website.
Canada also gets the short end of the stick — there's a similarly named restaurant, Harvey's, that takes its place. According to National Post, Harvey's opened one year before the first Hardee's opened in the U.S. and offers customers similar grill-style food offerings. Because of the similar names and menu, Hardee's doesn't have any locations in Canada, but Carl's Jr.'s does hold more than 20 locations in the country.
Two states with both Hardee's & Carl's Jr.
On the flip side, there are two states who find themselves in a lucky position compared to the rest of the country. While there are six states without having any Hardee's or Carl's Jr.'s locations, there are two states that have both. Call it luck of the draw or just being strategically placed based on market research and demand, but we can't say we're not jealous. Hats off to Oklahoma and Wyoming for being the lucky states that have both.
With Hardee's and Carl's Jr.'s being sister restaurants, it only makes sense for them to have some overlap when it comes to their target audiences and the demand for the similar food and recipes. Next time you find yourself in either of these two states, you'll never be short of burgers, chicken strips, milkshakes, and fries to top off your travels.
