When Does Bob Evans Stop Serving Breakfast?
There are only about 500 Bob Evans locations in 18 states, but the American farmhouse kitchen still managed to earn nearly $400 million in revenue nationwide in 2021 (via Zippia). According to the Bob Evans website, the privately owned company is "focused on providing quality food and hospitality to every guest at every meal, each and every day." For lunch or dinner, you can choose from an assortment of burgers and sandwiches, hand-breaded, fried chicken, or slow-roasted turkey and dressing. The restaurant even offers several family-size curbside or pickup choices. Breakfast options include things like honey butter chicken and biscuits, banana berry pancakes, and omelets.
Speaking of breakfast, if you've never dined at Bob Evans, you may not be aware of the restaurant's breakfast hours. According to Store Business Hours, most Bob Evans locations are open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., but these hours vary by location. So what time does the popular "Down on the Farm" diner stop serving breakfast?
Bob Evans' popular breakfast sausage may have contributed to the restaurant's breakfast hours
Bob Evans – which, by the way, is named after its founder, Robert Lewis Evans, per the Columbus Metropolitan Library – has been serving from-the-farm food since 1948. It all started with Evans' homemade breakfast sausage, which he initially sold from a food truck before ever serving it at a restaurant. It wasn't until 1962, when he opened The Sausage Shop, that he began serving sausage at a dine-in eatery.
To Evans' delight, customers raved about the sausage. "They would tell me that this was the best sausage they ever had, and then buy 10-pound tubs to take home, Evans himself once recalled, according to the chain's official website. The sausage eventually became a popular side item for Bob Evans breakfast meals, like The Original Farmer's Choice, Double Meat Farmer, and Rise & Shine. Perhaps this is why the decision was made to serve breakfast all day. Today, all Bob Evans restaurants serve breakfast until the kitchen closes for the day. So if you're in the mood for some banana nut pancakes at 2 p.m. on a Monday or Bob Evans Sausage with eggs at 7 p.m. on a Saturday, you can have it at Bob Evans.
Other restaurants that serve all-day breakfast
Bob Evans is just one of many restaurants in the U.S. that serves breakfast all day. Another is Denny's, one of the most well-known breakfast eateries in the country, with more than 1,400 locations as of this writing, according to ScrapeHero. But unlike Bob Evans, Denny's is open 24/7.
Waffle House is another example. This American restaurant chain serves all-day breakfast at its more than 1,900 locations, per ScrapeHero, most of which are in the South. Like Denny's, this breakfast spot is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Some fast food restaurants also serve breakfast all day, but with a couple of caveats. For one, not all locations offer all-day breakfast, thanks to the pandemic. Likewise, those that do offer all-day breakfasts don't offer the full breakfast menu all day; the breakfast menu is limited after standard breakfast hours end, as USA Today notes. Jack in the Box and Sonic also joined the all-day breakfast club, offering its full menus throughout the day.
