These days, one in five Americans has a tattoo, with the majority of inked Americans living in the West, followed by the East and Midwest. That's according to a 2012 Harris Poll of over 2,000 adults.

While "Mom" tats, hearts, stars, and patriotic flags and eagles are always trendy, other ink styles aren't so mainstream. When it comes to celebrities, their ink work is often more elaborate. Sure you'll see snakes, lizards, angels' wings, and flames on many a celebrity's body but you're also likely to see lots of other images like Justin Bieber's Perched Owl and writing, like Rihanna's Thug Life knuckle tats.
For some celebs, getting a tattoo seems addicting. Bieber has 45 tats, musician Adam Levine has 25 and Rihanna has over 23.
Still it's unusual, even for celebrities, to have food or food-inspired tattoos. But don't be too surprised to see what your favorite singers, actors, actresses, designers and chefs have as permanent markings.
From ankle and leg tats to full sleeves (arms covered in tattoos), ink can be just about anywhere on a star's body. In fact, some celebs admit their ink is too private to showcase in public.
It turns out condiments are very popular, especially for entertainers who want to brand their skin with pictures of their favorite food toppings. Treats like colorful candies and sweet fruits are common celeb tatoos too. They're well done, look fun, and show off the stars' personalities.

Louis Tomlinson
This cup and saucer tattoo belongs to Louis Tomlinson, member of the boy band One Direction. Tomlinson posted a picture of his forearm ink on Instagram, writing: "You can't go to bed..." a reference to the band's hit song, "Little Things," which references drinking tea before bed. Also, the musician has said Yorkshire tea is his favorite.
Jackson Rathbone
Ketchup, anyone? Actor Jackson Rathbone of Twilight fame has a large tattoo of a Heinz ketchup bottle on his right leg. He showed off the condiment ink to talk show host Wendy Williams, explaining he "just loves ketchup."
