You Won't Believe What 10 Inmates Requested For Last Meals
We know it is fairly morbid to think about. But as a lover of food, we know that it has come across your mind at least once. If you had one day left to live, what would you want your very last meal to be? It is a decision that is deeply personal, and probably very indicative of your personality. While it is sort of nice to think about having the opportunity to choose what the last thing you'd ever eat would be, it isn't a decision you'd really like to make, especially if the road that led you to that decision was paved by committing heinous and deplorable crimes.

Many inmates on death row were faced with this decision. Choosing your actual last meal, we'd imagine, is a completely different experience when death is no longer theoretical. When Lawrence Russell Brewer, a man convicted for a murder he committed in 1998, faced the death penalty, he made his last request a memorable one. The Huffington Post reported that his request of two chicken-fried steaks, one pound of barbecued meat, a triple-patty bacon cheeseburger, a meat-lover's pizza, three fajitas, an omelette, a bowl of okra, one pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream, some peanut-butter fudge with crushed peanuts and three root beers was honored by the state. Various sources reported that he did not actually eat this meal, inspiring Texas lawmakers to recant the last meal privilege in 2011.
No matter which side of the fence you stand on regarding the death penalty, the thought of looking into the minds of criminals through their last requests holds an eerie fascination. Photographer Henry Hargreaves captured this beautifully in his photo series where he recreated the last meals of several infamous inmates.
