Bringing the country to the Southern California beachside, this quaint sandwich, bakery, and gourmet grocery store is always bustling with locals and travelers, and from time to time you'll notice a celebrity or two covered with a sun hat and large shades. It's a great place to come and order a sandwich, such as their "Empire State of Mind" meatloaf sandwich or their pulled pork sandwich. Walk across the street to Malibu Lagoon State Beach and watch the surfers while you sunbathe, or opt to shop around the lavish Malibu Country Mart, a large outdoor center and boutique mall where you will be sure to run into some A-list celebrities; frequent shoppers include Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
7. Urth Caffé
Urth Caffé is best known for their organic heirloom coffee, according to Shallom Berkman, co- founder of Urth Caffé. "Jessica Alba is in all the time for our Spanish Latte, and the same for Katy Perry," says Berkman. The Beverly Hills location is known to be a prime star-spotting location, so if you're looking for celebrities, Urth Caffé is not to be missed on your visit to Los Angeles.
6. The Bazaar
Located in the posh Beverly Hills SLS Hotel, whose recent guests included Khloe Kardashian Odom, this open space is an unconventional dining experience, made up of several smaller restaurants in one. Popular items at The Bazaar's Rojo y Blanca include unique Spanish and modern tapas like the popular "Philly Cheesesteak," made with air bread, cheddar and Wagyu Beef. At Bar Centro, they even have a drink named "Jalé Berry," named after Halle Berry, made with fresh blackberries, gin, Cointreau, and a slice of jalapeño. So Hollywood!
5. BOA Steakhouse
This modern- day steakhouse is known for its prime steaks and chops, including a 40-day dry-aged New York strip and a bone-in rib-eye. When dining here, you can not only indulge in incredible side dishes like their mac and cheese, but you may also find yourself rubbing elbows with recent visitors such 50 Cent and Kris Jenner.
4. The Polo Lounge
As this is one of Los Angeles' most famous restaurants, located in the celebrity-frequented Beverly Hills Hotel, the who's who of Hollywood has been here to break bread and make movie deals. Recent diners include Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson. If you get a chance to dine at this Los Angeles staple, don't hesitate to try the chocolate soufflé or the Polo Lounge's signature dish, the McCarthy Salad. The salad, named after Neil McCarthy, a show-biz attorney who was a regular in the 1940s, features grilled chicken, beets, Cheddar, bacon, tomatoes, and avocado.
3. The Palm Hollywood
Now this is a place to be seen! Located in the heart of West Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard, The Palm's Hollywood location gave The Daily Meal an inside scoop on its celebrity clientele. "How about a power lunch with David Bowie and Gary Oldman?" explains Tayna Hodge, General Manager of The Palm West Holywood. "When dining at The Palm in West Hollywood, be prepared to see some familiar faces! Between the frequent diners and the celebrities, you will feel right at home as you are escorted to your table." Nosh on some of their popular dishes such as The Palm surf and turf, or splurge and have warm donuts tossed in a bag of cinnamon and sugar for dessert.
2. Spago
A staple restaurant in the Los Angeles community, Spago, from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, is one of the original "see and be seen" destinations. Spago's clientele has included some of the biggest names in Hollywood, from Elizabeth Taylor to Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney. On top of this impressive and loyal clientele, it is one of only three Los Angeles restaurants to have received two coveted Michelin stars. Along with its implausibly large 30,000-bottle wine collection, enjoy some of their signature dishes such as veal filet mignon tartare with smoked mascarpone and warm herb vinaigrette, which is even served with titanium silverware for optimal taste.
1. Mr Chow
This place is "an institution for Hollywood's biggest stars and its loyal clients," according to the restaurant's website. If you watch TMZ, then you know that they almost always have a camera crew and reporter outside of Mr Chow in Beverly Hills. This infamous celebrity dining experience opened in 1974, and for more than 30 years, it has been offering celebrity diners delectable Chinese cuisine. Try their hand-pulled noodles, green prawns, or the Peking duck.
