Apparently, the fact that your body doesn't have to work to cool down during the hot summer months, since the AC is doing the work for you, is making you gain weight. Hmm, so if we just sweated everything out during the hot summer months then we'd be losing water weight and our body would be working harder, too? Not sure how well this AC theory holds up when dehydration is thrown in the mix...
Stilettos
Marie Claire happens to have published two killer causes of weight gain. First up, high heels. Apparently, wearing casual, comfortable shoes every day can help you burn up to 6,500 more calories per year than your high-heel toting counterparts.
Husband's Education
Second on Marie Claire's list — this one is a doozy — a "study" showed that women who married men with a higher level of schooling than them tended to be more fit, while women who did the opposite tended to be heavier. This seems to be the opposite of feminism...
Being Afraid of the Dark
Sleeping with the lights on (either from the actual light, TV, or computer) is believed to cause more weight gain than if you slept in the dark.
Leggings
Do you enjoy wearing leggings? Once thought of as a way to keep warm when wearing a skirt, leggings are now potentially the cause of your flabby thighs. Oh yes, throw them right out. It appears that the fact that they "hold everything in" allows your muscles to slack off, meaning they become weaker and, thus, flabbier.
Your Mother
Got in a fight with your mom? Better make amends fast before you get too fat. Apparently, studies have shown that those who don't get along as well with their mothers are twice as likely to be overweight and/or obese. So I guess it's not just the fabulous cookies she makes...
