What To Expect From Next Week's Great GoogaMooga Music And Food Mashup
Brooklyn's first music/food/drink festival The Great GoogaMooga just announced their full lineup this week, and we were super psyched to see The Roots, Daryl Hall and John Oates, and Bear Hands joining the music lineup.
On the food side, though, there's way too much to choose from. The festival, which spans two days, has invited 75 food vendors, 35 brewers, and 30 winemakers to feed the masses, not to mention celebrities like Anthony Bourdain, Aziz Ansari, David Chang, and Ruth Reichl to helm panels for Extra Mooga.
So we called up Kerry Black, co-founder of the Superfly (which founded the festival as well as Bonnaroo), to get a feel for where to go. His pick? The Hamageddon Stage, "a pork area with a hard rock theme to it," he told us. "All the vendors in that area will be serving pork dishes, like Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and Porchetta. There will be BLTs and bacon flights. That area should be really fun."
There will also reportedly be wine and beer tents to get your drink on. As for the tongue-twisting name, "it's a term coined by radio DJs back in '40s and '50s that meant, 'Holy cow, this is great!'" Black explained. "And we were looking for a name for the atmosphere we were looking to give off, and we think we kind of nailed it."
