Upscale Food Delivery Service Launches In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Want to get your thai curry fried chicken from Federal Donuts or falafel from Mama's Vegetarian delivered straight to your doorstep?
There's a new service in Philly that will make it happen.
Caviar, a "premium" delivery service, just expanded to Philadelphia, offering upscale eats from restaurants like Cuba Libre, Distrito and PYT that don't typically deliver or only offer delivery to a small area of the city.
"It has been amazing to get insider access to many of Philly's best kitchens, and we are really excited to showcase all of the chefs' creations. From award-winning tapas at Amada to fresh out-of-the-oven Federal Donuts, our restaurant partners put a ton of effort into every dish," says Caviar's General Manager Steve Harrell, on the company's blog.
To use the service, hungry Philadelphians can sign up, browse a photo menu of whatever restaurant they want delivery from, customize their meal and have it delivered right to their door. And through October, there's no delivery fee.
Options range from a single pumpkin creme donut from Reading Terminal's beloved Beiler's to a veggie enchilada from Distrito. Customers can also order catering.
Caviar's only potential downfall? Slow turnaround time. Wait times for individual restaurants on Wednesday were all listed at 50 minutes or more. Of course, for someone who really just must have their vegan vanilla cupcake from Sweet Freedom, that might seem like a small price to pay.
