Fine Dining Buffet Style In San Miguel De Allende, Mexico
Rosewood Hotels is a worldwide chain with 36 locations on four continents. However, this resort in Mexico has been rated the best of them all. Rosewood San Miguel de Allende is a luxury five-star hotel that offers spectacular views of the city's skyline. The glimmering swimming pool is lined with cabanas and palm trees, an idyllic tropical paradise. Regarded as one of the most expensive lodging choices in the city, one way to enjoy the estate is by dining at one of its seven distinct culinary sites. I was fortunate enough to experience a memorable alfresco brunch at its signature restaurant, 1826.
This buffet-style eatery is a wonderful hotspot to celebrate Mexico's rich history. The menu features traditional and innovative Mexican cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. Rosewood San Miguel de Allende embraces the farm-to-table philosophy by establishing partnerships with nearby farms and purveyors that work with the culinary team to supply various fresh organic products. There are several stations to visit to please every palate. The restaurant is dispersed with beautifully decorated food stands. One option that caught my eye was a woman patting handmade blue corn tortillas. Guests choose their meat or vegetarian fillings, and the meals are prepared right before your eyes. A huge block of honeycomb is displayed above eye level, allowing gravity to make the sticky golden honey to drip into a bin placed beneath for scooping. That is as natural as it gets. The goat cheese is delivered fresh daily. It is soft, yet firm enough, mild tasting, and pairs very well with wine.
Each dish requires interaction with the staff. This allows for personal customization as meals are served by the chefs based on the guest's directions. The customer service sets 1826 apart from any other buffet. Experience a taste of Mexico through Rosewood's food and hospitality. I am very glad I did.
