10 Pampering, Pet-Friendly Hotels For Fido (Slideshow)

Most Kimpton-owned hotels have generous pet-friendly policies, and Hotel Monaco in Portland is no exception. And it's not just limited to dogs either; cats, lizards, birds, fish, and any other animal acquaintances are all welcome — regardless of size, weight, or breed. The Monaco has a "director of pet relations" (a dog), that helps provide plush beds, food, water bowls, mats, lists of nearby parks and pet-friendly restaurants, groomer hook-ups, special pet-themed "do not disturb" signs, courtesy bags for walks, with no additional charges or deposits. Pets are even welcome at the hotel's nightly wine reception!

Mandarin Oriental, Miami

Miami's Mandarin Oriental offers a five-star vacation for pets too — as long as they weigh 30 pounds or less. Canine customers receive a golden Mandarin Oriental collar tag keepsake, a luxurious pet bed, gourmet room service menus featuring all-natural cuisine, and special treats and bottled water served in provided bowls. Information about pet sitters, grooming services, dog parks, and walking routes can be provided. Still house-training your pup? Pads are also available if needed. Note, though, that a pet fee of $150 is applied per room, as each is thoroughly cleaned after its guests depart.

The Peninsula, Beverly Hills

Your pooch will love The Peninsula in Beverly Hills. Dogs are treated to monogrammed towels, luxurious doggy beds, spa services, bottled water, and a specially-designed menu featuring dishes like the "Bow Wow Beef Burger" and "Spot's New York Strip." Don't have time to walk your dog? A white-uniformed Peninsula Page will happily take your pup for a stroll around the block. The nightly fee is $35 per dog, but there's no weight limit.

Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek, Colo.

Even the dogs are treated well at Ritz-Carlton hotels — especially at the Bachelor Gulch location in Colorado. Pups can be pampered with in-room massages and bath treatments, elaborate room service menus, comfy doggie beds, and guided hikes. The cleaning fee is $125 for the first three nights and $25 for each additional night — but $25 from each stay is donated to the ASPCA.  Don't have a dog? The hotel will allow you to take Belle, the resident Bernese Mountain Dog, on the trails with you.

The Ritz-Carlton at Bachelor Gulch underwent a massive renovation in 2014. Read all about it by clicking here.

Ten Thousand Waves, Santa Fe

Let the staff of Santa Fe's Ten Thousand Waves know ahead of time, and they'll provide food and water bowls in your room prior to arrival. Many accommodations have private, fenced-in courtyards where guests are encouraged to let their furry friends frolic freely, and they're even allowed in the spa's private baths. Unlike at most hotels, here dogs are allowed to be left alone in guest rooms (although owners are responsible for any damage or disturbance caused by their companions) and all this comes at a charge of only $40 per night.

The Benjamin, New York City

There's no shortage of pet-friendly hotels in New York City, many of which belong to the Affinia hotel chain — including The Benjamin, which simply must be mentioned. This hotel doesn't just have a pet-friendly policy, it has an entire program: goodDOG by The Benjamin. In association with BarkBox (the NYC-based monthly subscription pet treat-curators), dogs receive a size-specific BarkBox with vet-approved treats and toys, a collapsible water bowl, paw wipes, a roll of plastic bags for walks, a Mungo & Maud specialty water bowl for use during their stay, and an in-room pet mini bar with treats from Bocce's Bakery and non-alcoholic Bowser Beer. The cost is $50 per pet per stay — including a $10 donation to the Animal League — but if you stay during the month of May, which is National Pet Month, the fee will be waived!

The Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown

When staying in Washington, D.C., your furry friend will receive nothing but capital service with The Fairmont's "It's a Dog's World" package. Arriving pups are greeted with bottled water and healthy treats made by the hotel's executive chef, maps showing the locations of nearby parks, a list of animal-friendly restaurants and shops, and even special pet-themed "do not disturb" signs for the door — reading either "please service room, animal companion exploring city" or "do not disturb, animal companion napping." Not only is there no charge for these services, but five percent of your room rate will be donated to the Washington Animal Rescue League.

Topnotch Resort, Stowe, Vermont

As the name suggests, everything is top notch at Topnotch Resort in the Green Mountains of Vermont — including the amenities for dogs. Rover Reiki massages are available (for a fee), as are AeroBeds, organic Mini-Bone treats (in flavors like bacon Cheddar, carob-chip oatmeal, and liver & bacon) during turndown service, and keepsake water bowls that can be taken home to remember the experience. There are also numerous packages for purchase, including the "Serve, Fetch, Love" (which includes an hour-long tennis lesson for humans and a 25-minute in-room spa treatment for dogs, with dog cookies and tennis balls as parting gifts) and "Pampering Pooch Package" (which includes a 50-minute human massage and 25-minute pet massage).

Trump International Hotel & Tower, Chicago

Is Trump a friendly guy? The jury is still out, but his hotels are quite friendly to four-legged friends — as long as they weigh 25 pounds or less (like The Donald himself, Trump International is apparently intolerant of those carrying excess weight). The Trump International Hotel in Chicago offers gourmet treats from an in-room dining menu, plush beds, water bowls, bottled water, toys, and maps highlighting fun dog-friendly parks, all at no additional charge. Spot needs a walk? Services can be arranged through the concierge.

XV Beacon, Boston

The luxurious XV Beacon in Boston is famous for its limitless hospitality, and this extends to four-legged guests as well. Dogs of all size are welcome and treated to healthy dog biscuits, a plush bed, and turndown water service. Dogs cannot be left unattended in rooms, but dog-sitting and walking services can be arranged through the hotel. There's no fee for pets, but the hotel suggests a $25 donation — 100 percent of which goes to charitable pet organizations in your pup's name.
