Take The Party Plunge With Shark Week
Are you a fan of Jaws? We thought so. As the Discovery Channel kicks off its 25th year of its highly anticipated weeklong event, Shark Week, we're here to give you some tips on how to make it yet another opportunity to party with your pals.
What is it that keeps viewers so enthralled every year? Is it the danger of it all or is it the risk of going back in the water after you know how deadly the big fish can be? Dare we suggest that maybe it's all the blood? Perhaps it's all of the above.
While the obvious under-the-sea themes apply when preparing to host a Shark Week viewing soirée, we're looking to push the boundaries a bit. We're thinking gore, we're thinking big fins — we're thinking intensity. With show titles like Sharkzilla, Shark Week's 25 Best Bites, and Shark Fight, it's safe to say we're on the right track.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
1. You can never have too many shark fins. Shark fin cupcakes, shark fin cookies, shark fin appliques in your cocktails. The more the merrier — we're going for full effect, are we not?
2. Screen some shark-themed movies when things get too scary on the Discovery Channel. Think Shark Tale, Finding Nemo, Open Water, and the one that started it all — Jaws.
3. Red drinks all around: Bloody marys, strawberry daiquiris, and sangria make for a good list.
4. Get fishy! Crab dip, tuna tartare, fish salad, fish and chips — hey, you have to set the bar high, right?
