Shake Shack Gets New Location In Boca Raton, Fla.

One more Florida college will get to add Shake Shack to its list of daily and late-night dining options. The lucky campus is Florida Atlantic University, which will join the University of Miami sometime in mid-2013 to become the second Florida university with a Shake Shack nearby.

Though Shake Shack is the reigning purveyor of all beach-bod-ruining foods, Miami Beach and Coral Gables residents (and visitors) have flocked to these Shake Shack locations since June, 2010 for burgers, flat-top dogs, and frozen custard in all forms.

We've watched Danny Meyer's Shake Shack empire expand outward from New York City since 2004, but CEO Randy Guratti is determined to keep the Shack an "anti-chain chain" by focusing on becoming a part of the local community surrounding every Shack location. So while the newest spot, directly across from FAU in Boca Raton, will feature all the favorite standbys, there will also be proprietary frozen custard concretes created specifically to pay homage to the local cuisine.

The Boca Raton Shack is decidedly eco-chic — like other Shake Shack locations, it will be built from recyclable materials and have energy-efficient kitchen equipment and LED lighting throughout. A large outdoor patio for "alfresco dining" is also expected.

As for the crowd, the hungry combination of sunburnt tourists and overworked (or over-partied) students should make the Shack's latest outpost ideal for business. Once word gets out about the Shack's "secret menu," we expect things will really get busy.
