Sandwich Of The Week: The Oaks' Ultimate BLT
The Oaks Gourmet, a Los Angeles neighborhood market, makes a great "Ultimate B.L.T." LA Weekly deemed the market's bacon cheeseburger the best in Southern California, and LAist named it the fifth best gourmet burger in L.A., but you might want to stop by for their B.L.T. as well.
Their Ultimate B.L.T. is piled high with Black Forest bacon, heirloom tomatoes, butterleaf hearts, avocado, and Camembert cheese between two slices of toasted sourdough from Bread Los Angeles. The bread is spread with roasted shallot aioli, and customers can choose honey wheat bread instead, if they wish to.
In addition to sandwiches like the B.L.T., the market also makes salads such as the "Oaks Italian Chop" and individual brick-oven pizzas like topped with jalapeño chicken & pineapple barbecue sauce. They sell baked goods, coffee, cheese, wine, craft beers, and chocolates, so there are plenty of items to go with that B.L.T.
Their B.L.T. is one of their most popular sandwiches, and they sell over two hundred orders of it per week. It may time to try this sweet, salty, and savory combo when you're in Los Angeles.
