Green Drink Smoothie

Green Drink Smoothie
4.5 (2 ratings)
There are many reasons to drink a smoothie, like as a nutritious breakfast or a healthy afternoon snack. But Mike Stevenson, head brewer at Culver Beer Company, created this recipe as his hangover cure. Fresh greens benefit from the caffeine kick of yerba mate -- if you can stand the sound of the blender in the morning.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup chilled yerba mate tea sweetened with agave nectar (or your choice)
  • 1¼ grapefruit
  • handful of spinach
  • handful of kale
  • 1 large swiss chard leaf
  • lemon slices
Directions
  1. Put a glass in the freezer. Add Yerba Mate to a glass. Having it sweetened is important, otherwise the juice will taste a little funky. Juice all the ingredients into that glass, minus the lemon, until done. Add fresh juice to a frozen glass and serve with a lemon slice.
