Paula Deen's Sons On 'Iron Chef,' Cookbook Sales Increase
Paula Deen might be out of the picture for the time being, thanks to the serious scandal that was her racist deposition leak, but her sons are going on media tours, defending their mother and promoting their cookbooks.
Eater reports that Bobby Deen is purportedly going to be competing on Iron Chef America, as Jamie Deen tweeted, "He's filming an episode of Iron Chef today!"
In fact, Bobby Deen is still keeping up a storng media presence, as the New York City Wine & Food Festival confirmed that Bobby Deen will be doing a culinary demonstration on Oct. 19 during the festival. Eater also notes that Bobby was on Dr. Oz last week, promoting his cookbook From Mama's Table to Mine.
As for Jamie Deen? Kyle Books will publish Jamie Deen's Good Food: Cooking Up a Storm with Delicious, Family-Friendly Recipes on Sept. 17, which has climbed up the Amazon pre-sale best-seller list thanks to Deen supporters, and we presume his fame.
Paula herself has been keeping quiet, although she is keeping her media appearance at the Ozark Civic Center in Alabama on Aug. 29 to raise money for the Dr. L.D. McLaughlin Memorial Fund. So keep doing the fundraising schtick and let her sons do the talking? Sounds about right, although the bad press might not disappear so easily. The Times, for instance, has just written a piece about the unequal friendship between Paula and her "soul sister" Dora Charles.
