Puppy Stars In Tear-Jerker Anti-Drunk Driving Budweiser Ad

Beer and liquor companies have been promoting safe drinking and driving habits for quite a while, including various uses of the common tagline, "drink responsibly." But this new Budweiser commercial really tugs at the heartstrings, with a simple message: don't drink and drive, lest you disappoint your furry best friend. Like many Budweiser commercials, the spot stars interspecies friends: an adorable yellow lab and his doting owner.

The commercial shows the pair growing up together, playing fetch, cuddling on the couch, and swimming together. One day, the man appears to be going out for the night, and he assures his dog that he will be home soon. The faithful pup waits by the door for his owner to return, and the eerie tagline appears, "For some, the waiting never ended. But we can change that." Luckily, this story has a happy ending.

The poignant message is one of Anheuser -Busch's many attempts to curb drunk driving, including their Designated Driver programs, available in locations like Yankee Stadium, and bars around the country, that offer free non-alcoholic drinks to designated drivers.
