You'll Soon Be Able To Make Your Own Coke With Keurig's Cold System

Brewing your own Coca-Cola at home? Now that's something we can raise a glass to. Wait. Before you may begin picturing the release of the carefully guarded secret Coke formula, that's not quite what's going on.Keurig may be known for its single-serve coffee systems, but they have announced the release of a new cold brewing system that allows you to make your own Coke, Sprite, Dr Pepper, or any other Coca-Cola brand just by pushing a button.  We hinted at this news earlier this year, but now Keurig has made it official.

If this concept sounds familiar, it's because SodaStream has had the market cornered on homemade sodas. The difference between the new Keurig Kold and a SodaStream is that this machine doesn't require a CO2 canister, and instead uses Keurig's familiar special pods to turn water into soda using "innovative Karbonator beads" that according to taste tests from British newspaper Metro UK, tastes exactly like the real thing. Keurig will also offer original flavors, and will be releasing cocktail mixers sometime soon too.

You can get your own Keurig Kold system for $369, which is pricey compared with most SodaStream models (generally under $100 per unit). The Keurig Kold will be released online in October, and in select cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and New York.
