Anthony Bourdain Becomes A Cartoon For Nickelodeon
We always knew that Anthony Bourdain was a real character, but he will soon literally become a cartoon for Nickelodeon. The station's popular animated series Sanjay and Craig, a show about a pre-teen boy and his pet snake, will feature a guest appearance by Anthony Bourdain, who will provide the voice for a likeness of himself called Anthony Gourmand early next year. The cartoony Bourdain looks a little bit like a human Squidward with skinny legs, ample chest hair, and Bourdain's signature silver locks.
Cartoony Anthony Bourdain is hungry for some gourmet snake!
In the Bourdain episode, Anthony Gourmand is looking for the "ultimate food," and Sanjay and Craig try to convince him that it can be found in their town. When Gourmand comes to the conclusion that snake is the ultimate food, Sanjay spends the rest of the episode trying to keep Craig from being eaten.
Apparently Bourdain, who has a young daughter of cartoon-watching age, was really excited to be a part of the show.
"I've seen absolutely every episode," Bourdain told The New York Post. "This is a show I wish had existed when I was a kid. It has all the elements that I looked for in my childhood for entertainment and was deprived of — stinky stuff, farts, toilet humor, gross stuff."
You can also see Bourdain on the children's show Yo Gabba Gabba, during his 2010 guest appearance as "Dr. Tony."
