128-Oz Frappuccino Sets Starbucks Drink Record
And you thought your Starbucks order was unhealthy. To celebrate the free drink offer that accompanies buying 12 Starbucks orders with your Starbucks Gold card, a man who goes by his coffee shop customer name of Andrew, decided to take his drink order to the next level. Andrew ordered a 128-ounce Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino for $54.75, setting the record for most expensive Starbucks creation ordered with the free drink offer.
You're probably wondering what was in this monstrosity: a Venti vanilla bean caramel Frappuccino, 60 shots of espresso (4.5 grams of caffeine, just 5.5 grams away from a lethal overdose, according to Popular Science), mocha, white mocha, and caramel drizzle. The Mayo Clinic has stated that more than .5 grams of caffeine per day can result in a quickened heartbeat, tremors, and severe insomnia. But don't worry, Andrew told Consumerist that he only drank one-third of his creation, and saved the rest for later.
"This type of beverage order is totally excessive and not something we encourage people to do," a Starbucks representative told Seattle Weekly News. "After they make that beverage, it's pretty inedible. Nor is it safe...They get excited about that Birthday beverage, but [in this case] had a little too much fun with it."
