New Bravo Cooking Series Takes On Travel
First there's BBC's No Kitchen Required, now there's Bravo's Around the World in 80 Plates — clearly, there's a travel-food theme emerging on TV.
The newest cooking series to combine travel and food will send 12 chefs to compete while globe-trotting. In each new city, contestants will have to learn the local customs and cuisine while taking on a new culinary challenge: to reinvent menus from internationally known restaurants.
The gauntlet of chefs for the new series: Fenway Park's executive chef Steve Postal (aka "Nookie"), Table 52's executive sous chef John Vermiglio, Hotel Wilshire's chef Liz Garrett, and more. Hosted by Curtis Stone (best known for his appearances on Take Home Chef, The Biggest Loser, and Top Chef: Masters) and Iron Chef Cat Cora, the show promises great foodie treats plus gorgeous geographic locations. The series premieres May 9.
