The Loveless Cafe's Bee Sting Moonshine Cocktail
4.3 (3 ratings)
Moonshine has quite the history in the South, and here at the Loveless Cafe. As the legend goes, our namesake Lon Loveless was once a sheriff in a neighboring county before being ran out of town for bootlegging. Good thing, too, or else he and his wife Annie would have never moved into the little home on the side of US Hwy 100 that eventually became the Loveless Cafe. Stories say that local moonshiners knew to heed the warning when Annie Loveless would put empty milk on the porch when the police were inside the Cafe dining. Historically, “moonshine” referred to any untaxed alcohol. These days, the term is used more for any sort of un-aged whiskey, usually distilled from a mash with corn and sugar. There’s nothing that says summertime in the South like sweet tea. This refreshing cocktail takes sweet tea, honey, lemon, and moonshine to make a summertime cocktail that packs quite a sting if you’re not careful!
