London Nightclub Offers $3,000 Gold Cocktail (For Gold Medalists Only)
We guess after Olympians are done refueling with chocolate milk, they're hitting the adult drinks pretty hard. And if you've just won an Olympic gold medal, why not splurge on a $3,000 cocktail?
Yahoo! Sports has all the details of London's VIP club for Olympic athletes, Chinawhite. And a $3,000 cocktail is just the beginning: athletes who show up are showered with bottles of Moët & Chandon Champagne (with sparklers, no less), and invited into a VIP-only area. The all-night party also includes some famous DJ sets — we even hear the men's winner of the 200-meter backstroke, Tyler Clary, has spun a tune or two.
Said the club's director James Spallone, the club has been preparing to spoil the athletes, who've worked their whole lives for this one moment. He said, "We make sure they have a great time and have some special memories of London to take home... Every night we have a presentation for the gold medalists, and it has been very well received."
Spallone said the gold cocktail is the club's "special creation," and has even given a few away (but no word to whom they were given). So what's in this gold medal cocktail? Hennessy Paradis Imperial cognac, Luxor 24-carat gold leaf Champagne, and a set of handmade 18-carat gold rings placed in the bottom of the glass. (No wonder it's so pricy). Not in London? Can't afford a $3,000 drink? Good thing The Daily Meal has more than enough Olympic cocktails to tide you over: we recommend the Hymn to Liberty, Strength and Honor, and Star-Spangled Banner cocktails to cheer on the Olympians.
