Lollapalooza 2012 Slideshow: Lobster Corndogs, Truffles, And More
"The first year we had several different items: Portobello sautées, which was our vegan dish; buffalo chicken with bleu cheese and beer froth. But what we learned was that out of 100,000 people, maybe 1000 like bleu cheese," Elliot told us. "The two things we've always sold a lot of are the lobster corn dog and the truffle popcorn, so we've shortened the menu to just those two items."
Graham Elliot at Grahamwich
The chef was working his station on Saturday and Sunday. This year, Elliot pulled in Kuma's Corner and Chubby Wieners, telling us, "not a lot of people can close down their restaurant for three days, come out here and serve their food and really make it work. Now we try to find people that still share that same thing, but are organized enough to pull it off."
The Farmers Market Area
The festival had three food areas: Chow Town North, Chow Town South, and Farmers Market, which set up near the entrances to the parks' eight stages.
Tiny Greens Organic Farm
Tiny Greens Organic Farm brought baskets of apples to sell for healthy festivalgoers.
Franks 'n' Dawgs
The Chicago hot dog purveyor served up truffle fries, a BLT Dog (bacon sausage, basil aioli), the Pork of July (pulled pork, cherry bourbon barbecue sauce), and the Chicagoesque, pictured (caramelized onions, cherry tomato relish, pickles).
