Any Sunday at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead's brunch is special, thanks to the service, which can't be beat. But for Mother's Day, it's no holds barred.

2. Southern Art and Bourbon Bar

Beyond Southern Art's decadent, southern style, Mother's Day brunch buffet that promises to include the award winning fried chicken and biscuits of celebrity chef Art Smith–former chef to Oprah Winfrey, mother may appreciate   one of the amazingly flavorful spirited concoctions created by celebrated master mixologist, Clay Livingston–the pack at Bourbon Bar.

She may choose to consier a Sparkling Saphire ($14), made of Bomby Saphire Gin, Soho Lychee Liqueur with cucumber, house made ginger syrup, topped with champage and a drop of candied ginger—a refreshingly perfect  adult beverage on a beautiful sunny day while dining al fresco, poolside or anywhere you can see the sun. As an option consider the $11 Kettled Pear, featuring Kettle One Vodka, Merlet Pear Liqueur (infused with vanilla bean), pomegranate juice and fresh pear, all of which tastes like a glass of fresh pomegranate juice, which is loaded with antioxidents. If she's one for tradition, offer her a House Old Fashioned ($14) of  spirits, bitters sugar and water. "It's the oldest cocktail in world, to which we add orange bitters and whiskey barrel aged bitters with a hint of cinnamon," explains Clay, who swears by the Four Roses Yellow Label bourbon used.

The new spring menu includes Clay's version of a Mai Tai daquiri #1 (not to be confused with a frozen daquiri), Rum for the Black Roses (Woodford Reserve, blackbery mint shrub and sparkling rosewater) and four additional selections created by various other bartenders on stadd including the Bonita Applebaum with Sauza tequila, apple liquor (Berentzen–which tastes like apples), grapefruit juice, agave and a dash of apple bitter—-shaken over ice and servved in a high ball with a splash of soda.

From January through October, Bourbon Bar offers one mixology class a month–typically on the last Thursdy of the month. But especially for this Sunday, Mother's Day, Art Smith will be on hand signing copies of his new book, Healthy Comfort.

5. The Farmhouse at Serenbe

Most mother's would choose to "be serene," which is not always the case for a person whose work never seems to be done due the constant nurturing she so freely gives. But in the greater Atlanta area, there are few places where serenity is everywhere, like it is at Serenbe.

"Each week I take recipes I learned from Mom and have tweaked to bring them up-to-date and to reflect what is coming straight from the farm and garden." explains Marie Nygren, proprietress at The Farmhouse at Serenbe and mother of 3 beautiful daughters.

Southern classics made with locally grown, organic ingredients from the restaurant's own garden and Serenbe Farms is the breakdown of any meal at The Farmhouse at Serenbe, which for all Mother's Day guests, served 11:30am through 7pm, at $28.95, will be as follows...

I. Mixed Lettuces with Pickled Red Onion, Radish, Feta Cheese and Lemon Vinaigrette

II. Entrée choice: Fried chicken or seared trout, with grits souffle, garlic green beans and black eyed pea salad

III. Dessert: Lemon pound cake with minted strawberries and whipped cream

Whatever you do, wherever you go, remember that Mother's Day is mother's day. That means no texting in her presence, as the focus is all about mom!
