Guy Fieri To Pace Indy 500 Race

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri may not have the best rep in the food world, but at least he's getting an image boost from the Indy 500.

The food personality will be driving the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 pace car for 2012's Indy 500 race.

Race officials reportedly made their selection because "[Fieri is] full of energy and is a longtime 'car guy.'" Not surprising, as this is the guy whose yellow Lamborghini was stolen by a teenager. Fieri also reportedly also owns a 2007 Corvette and a red 1968 Camaro SS.

"There are races and then there are races," Fieri said in a press release. "And without a doubt, the Indy 500 is the race that I've always wanted to attend. And now, to be driving the Corvette pace car — this is going to be unbelievable." We wonder what Anthony Bourdain thinks of this.
