Food Porn From Feast Portland's Sandwich Bonanza
The second annual Feast Portland extravaganza from Bon Appétit kicked off Thursday night with the Widmer Brothers Brewing Sandwich Invitational, with chefs like Sean Brock, Paul Qui, Duff Goldman, and, of course, local Portland chefs bringing out their ultimate sandwich for a little friendly competition.
As the first event for Feast, it's not surprising there were lines everywhere, worthy of New York City. Qui, McCrady's (with their "Hilbilly Bologna Sandwich"), and San Francisco's State Bird Provisions all boasted the longest lines, while Ox's duck confit sandwich also gathered a crowd. The awards of the night, however, went to two Portland chefs: Adam Sappington's grilled lamb burger with smoked tomato jam won People's Choice, while David Kreifels of Laurelhurst Market won over the judges with a smoked beef tongue and padron peppers sandwich.
