Feed Your Family A Healthy Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for your kids. Serving foods that have the vitamins and nutrients they need each day is the best way to start your kids off right. The foods they eat in the morning will help them to thrive in school and will maintain the energy levels they need throughout the day.
Eggs are a nutritious breakfast option because they're packed with essential vitamins and minerals. If you opt for Eggland's Best eggs, you'll be serving your kids eggs with the benefit of 10 times more vitamin E, double the omega-3, 25 percent less saturated fat, three times more vitamin B12, four times more vitamin D, and 38 percent more lutein than ordinary eggs.
Making a nutritious breakfast for your kids can be easy, fun, and quick. One of our favorite kid-friendly breakfasts is "eggs in a hole."
To make "eggs in a hole," cut a hole in a slice of bread with a cookie cutter — your kids will have fun helping with this step. Then, melt a pat of butter in a small non-stick pan and place it over medium heat. When the pan is hot, place the bread slice in the pan and then crack an egg inside the cut-out hole. After about a minute, flip the toast and egg, and cook for another minute. Make sure eggs are cooked through thoroughly before serving. Meanwhile, you can pop the cut-out shape into the toaster and serve it on the side with nut butter, fresh jam, avocado, or fresh salsa.
This is a simple dish to make, and it's fun for the kids to dip bread in the egg yolk. Get creative and use different shaped cookie cutters to keep it fun for the kids.
