What Your Horoscope Says About Your Diet
While scientists and rational-minded lay people often write off astrology and the art of the zodiac as nonsense, or at best, harmless entertainment, there are those who practice and truly believe. In fact, more than 40 percent of Americans consider astrology a science. Even if you don't fully commit yourself to this practice, many of you read your horoscope daily, weekly, when you're about to make an important decision. Why? As you read your horoscopes, you begin to recognize common personality traits that actually do correspond to those possessed by your family, friends, or even yourself.
Your horoscope may label you as a stubborn person, a decision-maker, one who can keep cool under pressure, or a wild child. So it got us wondering: if your horoscope can indicate things about your personality, want can it say about your diet and your health?

For instance, does your sign indicate your tendency to love buffets but loathe vegetables? Does the zodiac predetermine your dining preferences?
"Although astrology is a multi-layered self-knowledge tool," says astrologer Hazel Dixon-Cooper, "by knowing your sun sign, you can better understand your instinctive reaction to food and diet as well as any possible health issues that might arise."
While eating healthy just seems practical to logical folk, those who seek the counsel of the stars may feel inclined to believe that it's something you're hardwired to do.
Even those who do not rigorously practice astrology sometimes put stock in zodiac predispositions.
"Each of us has personality characteristics and a history of choices that underlie the ability to try new foods or to be stubborn about chance," says author and Seattle-based psychic Alexandra Chauran. "Your zodiac sign is one way that you can understand what makes you a picky or adventurous eater."
If you can't pass up the chance to try that new restaurant, your sign might be a very social one that's into luxe experiences. Do you crave comfort? Your sign is likely the one that relishes comfort foods like wine and chocolate.
Is your sign the one that's most likely to post food pictures to Instagram? Does your horoscope explain why you love eating meals with friends and may avoid dining alone? Your horoscope could indicate why you find it tough to get rid of the unhealthy foods in your diet simply because they're your favorites.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)
As fire signs, Aries are driven people who are often prone to headaches and sinus infections. Watch the role your diet plays in your health.
"You often neglect your nutritional needs by yo-yo or extreme dieting," says Dixon-Cooper, who notes Aries can be impatient and often look for quick results like fad diets.
Denise Baron of AyurvedaForModernLiving.com suggests that Aries cut down on spicy foods and look for more balance. She suggests drinking cooling herb teas and eating eggs, pomegranates, and green vegetables.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
This sign, represented by a bull, can be indulgent.
"You're likely to overdo it on the wine and chocolate or other comfort foods," says Chauran. "This is because food is one of the great pleasures in life, and a Taurus knows how to appreciate a good life. You may be quite stubborn about trying new foods or, worse still, modifying your favorite foods so that they're more healthy."
In a nod to the sign's love of comfort and security, Dixon-Cooper says a Taurus may enjoy "home-style cooking and plenty of leftovers."
