Selena Gomez's Coca-Cola Ad Ruled Instagram In 2016

If you want to get a few more likes on your Instagram page, try sipping on some Coca-Cola. Or, at least that's what worked for Selena Gomez in 2016. The "Hands to Myself" singer had the most-liked Instagram photo of 2016, thanks to a photograph she took with a bottle of Coke.

According to Newsweek, Gomez's snapshot with a bottle of Coca-Cola that features the lyrics to her Revival single "Me and the Rhythm" was the Instagram post with the biggest impact this year. The picture amassed more than 5.9 million likes and 233,000 comments.

Though the photo was likely popular because of Gomez's perfectly tossed hair and Coca-Cola red halter top, the picture actually came about as a partnership between her and Coke. Gomez joined forces with the soda giant to be a part of the "Share a Coke and a Song" campaign. Her participation in the campaign featured the use of lyrics from two of her songs, "Me and the Rhythm" and "Love You Like a Love Song" on Coke bottles, Billboard reported back in April.

The partnership seems like a major win for Coke, who was able to tap into Gomez's huge Instagram following for this campaign. She is far and away the social media app's most-followed user, boasting more than 104 million followers. Her massive social media following on the site easily trumps the likes of Kim Kardashian, pop star Ariana Grande, and best friend (and fellow Coke spokeswoman) Taylor Swift.
