How to Throw a 'Beauty and the Beast' Dinner Party

With inspiration from the original animated film, from French cuisine, and from the ways Walt Disney World has interpreted the film's food through Gaston's Tavern and the Be Our Guest restaurant, we've put together the ultimate setting and party menu for you.

Send Out Invitations

Don't be like the Beast and just yell and expect your friends to join you for dinner when you demand it. Send out formal invitations. Whether you're looking to take inspiration from the 1991 animated classic or the new live-action remake, or just want to take certain design elements from the movie, Etsy has a wide variety of Beauty and the Beast themed invitations, and they're all gorgeous.

Set Up Gaston’s Tavern

We suggest having different rooms at your party. While the dining room is reserved for formal dining, turn your living room into Gaston's Tavern. He uses antlers in all of his decorating, so you should too. Don't forget to serve up manly snacks, like fried chicken wings, pigs in a blanket, and a bacon bourbon caramel corn (or anything with bacon, really).

Create Your Own ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Tablescape

Take inspiration from the Beast's castle with your own Beauty and the Beast-themed table. White tablecloths, deep red napkins, and fine white china are integral to recreating the prince's dining room. If you really want to complete the look, find three-armed candelabras to bring Lumière right to your table.

Don’t Forget the Roses

Beyond Belle's stunning yellow ball gown, the most iconic symbol of Beauty and the Beast is the red rose. Channel the Beast's off-limits west wing with glass vases filled with red roses. If you want to go next-level with your décor, add in a handheld mirror, an antique clock, and a teapot.

Make a Playlist

Creating a Beauty and the Beast playlist could not be easier. All you have to do is pop on the films' soundtracks. The 1991 soundtrack won three Grammys and was the first animated film soundtrack to be nominated for Album of the Year, so you can't go wrong there. Meanwhile, the 2017 soundtrack has new music from Celine Dion, John Legend and Ariana Grande, and Josh Groban.

Take Menu Inspiration From “Be Our Guest”

Beef ragout, cheese soufflé, pie, and pudding en flambé aren't just song lyrics from "Be Our Guest" — they're your cookbook. Enjoy. Serve with a selection of French wines, and you have a party menu that's fit for a fairytale.

Serve the Grey Stuff

At Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest Restaurant serves up the signature Grey Stuff from "Be Our Guest" as dessert. This creamy chocolate dessert is surprisingly easy to replicate at home, so serve some up at your Beauty and the Beast party. Copycat blogs have deduced that this dish is a combination of vanilla pudding, whole milk, Oreos, whipped topping, and a touch of chocolate pudding mix.

Do a Little Ballroom Dancing

No dinner party would be complete without some other sort of activity, so we recommend that you break out your dancing shoes and do a little waltzing. Find the Beast to your Belle (or the Belle to your Beast, or the Gaston to your LeFou) and dance around the room to recreate the stunning "Beauty and the Beast" scene from the movie.
