Sanderson London Celebrates Lewis Carroll's 'Alice In Wonderland' With Mad Hatter Tea
Tumble down the rabbit hole for the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland at Sanderson London and partake in their Mad Hatter's afternoon tea. In celebration of the sesquicentennial anniversary of Lewis Carroll's classic novel, Sanderson has introduced five new on-theme teas inspired by the characters of the iconic story.
On the savory side, enjoy dishes such as Cornish crab and herb eclairs; and Scottish smoked salmon, quail egg and caviar Scotch egg. Satisfy your sweet tooth with curious carrot meringue, The White Rabbit's pocket watch macaroon, The Queen of Hearts Oreo cookie soldier, and more.
There are more mature options as well, like a Mad Hatters Champagne afternoon tea that includes glass of Perrier-Jouet brut nv Champagne, or choose from a last of cocktails such as Chapter Two – The Pool of Black and White Tears made of Zacapa 23 year old rum, Frangelico liqueur, vanilla syrup, and fresh coffee finished with double cream; and Chapter Four – The Rabbit Sends A Little Green Bill composed of fresh apple, mint, cucumber, and spinach muddled with lime juice and served with a celery stick.
They have also made sure to include some whimsy beyond what's on the plates and in the cups, with thoughtful touches such as menus hidden inside vintage books, teapots adorned with kings and queens, sandwich plates decorated with birdcages, carousels, and ticking clocks.
The tea will continue to evolve, with the seasons, and is served daily for between £48 ($72) and £65 ($98) per adult excluding gratuity, and £35 ($53) per child for children 4 to 11 years old.
