San Diego's Hotel Del Coronado Offers Saturday At The Ranch Packages
Victorian-era resort Hotel Del Coronado is offering its guests a unique "Saturday at the Ranch" weekend package. Guests check into Hotel Del Coronado's on a Friday afternoon and on Saturday are treated to a full day at Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico.
Buses pick up participating guests and shuttle them 40 miles east of San Diego to the Ranch. While at Rancho La Puerta, guests can take meditation, yoga, spinning, pilates, and water aerobics classes; enjoy a spa treatment with lavender oil; and attend a cooking demonstration and buffet at the resort's culinary center.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at the Ranch's food hall and meals follow a lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet. This diet includes dairy and eggs, but no meats or poultry are served. Meals are purposefully balanced and feature plenty of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, dairy, and egg products. In addition, a fresh fish "catch of the day" is featured four times a week, and several times for lunch.
Dinner entrées include healthy options such as Asian stir fry, ranch tamales, fresh halibut Tecate style, homemade pasta with porcini mushrooms, and spinach and mushroom enchiladas.
To end meals with a sweet treat, the ranch offers better-for-you desserts like fresh fruit sorbet, blueberry or peach cheesecake, and cinnamon flan.
For those that just want to relax, there are plenty of quiet gardens, meditation mazes, poolside lounges, and hammocks on the 3,000-acre property.
The food demonstration includes a tour of La Cocina Que Canta's extensive organic vegetable gardens, a two-hour cooking lesson with a renown chef, and an extensive multi-course meal. After dining, guests are shuttled back to Hotel Del Coronado. Dates of upcoming "Saturday at the Ranch" excursions are June 11 and June 18.
