Brod Kitchen Unviels New Smorrebrod Menu On New York's Upper East Side
Looking for a bakery that does it all just a little better?
Hot 'N' Crusty locations are in no short supply on the Upper East Side, but if you're able to swing by Brod Kitchen instead, I'd highly recommend it.
Further bolstering the slowly yet steadily increasing presence of Nordic food here in New York, the team there has created a signature savory smorrebrod of open-faced sandwiches with a variety of toppings that are perfect for sharing.
But, you know, you don't have to share.
Options include the Jarlsberg and pear smorrebrod made with whole grain mustard and ham; the gravlax smorrebrod: smoked salmon, dill mustard sauce, pickled cucumbers, red onions, and fresh dill; a roasted chicken option made with cream cheese, curry mango sauce, and red horseradish; and a delightful shrimp smorrebrod teeming with teeny, tiny baby shrimp simply dressed with lemon and mayo. All are made with natural ingredients and everything is prepared in-house, from the roasted chicken to the rye bread.
If you're trying to eat healthy, maybe stay away from their desserts—this week, they're launching sweet smorrebrods made with Daim chocolate and crème fraîche, hazelnuts, thyme, honey, pistachio, and more.
They're also running a week-long special smorrebrod happy hour beginning April 13: buy any two savory smorrebrod and get a sweet one for free from 1 to 7 p.m.
