Al Roker On His Favorite Foods To Cook, His Best Meal Ever, And The 2015 South Beach Wine & Food Fest
Al Roker is one of the most legendary weathermen in history. He's been on the air for more than 35 years, most famously as the long-time weatherman for NBC's Today Show. But he's also an accomplished television producer, writer, and cookbook author. Roker will bring his burger-making skills to this year's Amstel Light Burger Bash, where he'll be serving burgers of his own creation. We had the opportunity to speak with him about the festival, Miami, his favorite foods, and the best meal he ever ate.
The Daily Meal: What are you most looking forward to at SOBE this year?
Al Roker: Taking as many selfies with chefs as I can. Also, avoiding eating too much and leaving 10 pounds heavier!
What are you planning on serving at Burger Bash?
A lamb burger on a pretzel bun.
What are your favorite foods to cook at home?
Chili, black bean burgers, and fish tacos.
What is the best meal you ever had?
My mother's oxtail stew and dumplings.
What are you working on these days? Do you have any new books in the works?
I do, but I can't say yet! Well, I could... but then I'd have to kill you.
What do you love about Florida, and Miami specifically?
Everyone looks so much better than me. I never need to look in a mirror. I just pretend I look like them!
