15 Craziest Stadium Foods Slideshow
Cincinnati Reds fans have more to do than just cheer for the team at the Great American Ballpark. They have a Meat Lover's Hot Dog to devour. It is a quarter-pound hot dog, which is deep-fried before being topped with heaps of chili, pepper jack cheese, and fried salami.
Miami Marlins
They have a brand-new stadium and now the Miami Marlins have a new piled-high and crazy snack: the Supreme Helmet Nachos. It's what it sounds like, only bigger. It's a helmet full of nachos that are piled high with salsa, jalapeños, chili, cheese, and green sauce.
Milwaukee Brewers
Miller Park is home to the Milwaukee Brewers as well as this bizarrely sweet-sounding savory dish — the pulled pork parfait. Although parfaits are usually made with all sorts of sweet cream and fruit, this version consists of pulled pork, mashed potatoes, and chives. The fact that it's served much like a regular parfait still sort of freaks us out. (It also looks kind of delicious.)
Chicago Cubs
Frito pie might be a Southern (and specifically Texan) thing, but that hasn't stopped Chicagoans from making it their own at Wrigley Field. Their Frito Pie Dog is a hot dog (which, as we know, Chicagoans take very seriously) smothered with beef chili, shredded Cheddar cheese, and the pièce de résistance, Fritos.
Toronto FC, Major League Soccer
Poutine is a very delicious point of pride for many Canadians, so it should come as no surprise to find that at Toronto's BMO Field, home of the Canadian National Soccer Team and Toronto FC Major League Soccer, it's on a whole other level. It's not just any poutine... it is Triple Pork Poutine. A bed of fries is topped with cheese curds and gravy, per usual, and is then topped with pulled pork, bacon, and sausage.
Texas Rangers
It is easy to make the "everything's bigger in Texas" quip when Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, is serving something called the Big Boomer. It's a 1-pound hot dog that measures 24-inches long and is endlessly topped with spicy ketchup, jalapeño mustard, Baja relish, beef chili, melted cheese, and raw onions.
Gateway Grizzlies
Another well-publicized and long-loved stadium food is "Baseball's Best Burger," formerly known as the Luther Burger. It is a burger smothered in melted cheese and topped with strips of crispy bacon with a split (and sometimes grilled) Krispy Kreme doughnut as its bun, and it can be found at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill., outside St. Louis.
Northwest Arkansas Naturals
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals might be a Minor League team, but their snacks are anything but. Their Springdale, Ark., ballpark serves up a funnel dog, combining two county fair favorites. It is a hot dog on a stick that is surrounded by fried funnel cake and topped with powdered sugar.
Cleveland Indians
It seems like someone at Progressive Field gave sandwiches a much-needed update. Why use bread when you can use waffles? They serve their fried chicken sandwich with a big fluffy waffle as the bread, which is then topped with powdered sugar.
Los Angeles Dodgers
This ballpark snack, originally served at Dodger Stadium, has become so popular that more than a handful of other stadiums have started serving it to their loyal fans as well. It is the Victory Knot — a 2-pound gourmet soft pretzel topped with sea salt and served in a pizza box with three dipping sauces: spicy mustard, beer cheese, and sweet cream cheese.
West Michigan Whitecaps
Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, Mich. (outside Grand Rapids), home to the West Michigan Whitecaps, knows what the fans really want — a Fifth Third Burger. It is, at more than 4 pounds, not for the weak among us. The bun is topped with a cup of chili, five hamburger patties, five slices of American cheese, salsa, nacho cheese, Fritos, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and, if you like, jalapeños. They then slice it with a pizza cutter.
Toronto Blue Jays
As the only baseball stadium in Canada, Rogers Centre (home of the Toronto Blue Jays) had to really ramp up its food game. And it stepped up to the challenge with BBQ Chicken Nachos. As it sounds, it's a behemoth pile of nachos topped with chicken and barbecue sauces as well as cheese, salsa, and sour cream.
St. Louis Cardinals
There are plenty of things we eat at home during a ballgame that just wouldn't be a realistic ballpark snack, ravioli among them. But the powers that be in St. Louis, and at Busch Stadium, fixed that by deep-frying ravioli and serving them with a marinara dipping sauce. Problem solved.
Washington Nationals
Named after their pitcher Stephen Strasburg, the Nationals Park's "Strasburger" is an 8-pound feat of a burger. It is an all-beef burger on an oversized bun with "secret sauce," American cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced red onions, pickle chips, and served with a cone of fries on the side.
Colorado Rockies
Rocky mountain oysters are uniquely Coloradan snacks that have a reputation that precedes them. Despite their name, they are not bivalves but instead bull testicles that are deep-fried and served with a dipping sauce. At Denver's Coors Field, they're served on a bed of French fries.
