Manhattan's Dream Midtown Hotel Launches New Nightlife Venue, Fishbowl

Attention New Yorkers: You have a new, trendy, over-the-top nightlife spot to hit up. Joining the Dream Midtown Hotel's PHD Terrace and The Rickey, Tao Group's Fishbowl opened on Feb. 10.

This adult playground spans 2,500 square feet, leaving ample room for plenty of dancing, drinking, and games. There's an arcade-style lounge with exposed brick walls, complete with retro arcade games, Skeeball, mini-bowling, and an interactive photo booth to catch all your best (or worst?) moments of the night. In the center of the space is a bright, colorful 5,000-gallon fish tank full of exotic fish.

Naturally, Fishbowl's cocktails match the uniqueness of the venue. Crafted by Drew Sweeny, the cocktail menu is filled with fun drinks like the Mystic Marvel, a take on the margarita made with Casamigos tequila, prickly pear purée, agave syrup, and fresh lime juice, and the Marble Queen, a piña colada variation made with Milagro tequila, coconut cream, and fresh lime juice. Get some bites to go with your libations courtesy of Mike Armstrong, whose menu items range from the chicken pibil sliders with avocado, queso fresco, and pickled jalapeño, to loaded nachos with black bean chili, aged cheddar, pico de gallo, sour cream, and olives.

"Our goal was to create the ultimate adult game room and add some excitement to Midtown Manhattan," said Tao Group managing partner Matt Strauss in a recent press release. "We had a lot of fun curating Fishbowl's retro vibe, from taking advantage of the hotel's aquarium to hand-selecting original backboards of 1960's pinball machines featured throughout the space. We're excited to share this unique venue with the neighborhood and add to the nightlife narrative we've established at Dream Midtown."
