DIY Chalk Paint Recipe

The words "I'm bored" are every parent's worst nightmare. It means at least a few whiney hours are ahead, full of pouting and sulking until something finally captures their attention.

Instead of dealing with grumpy kids all day, if the sun is shining, push them outside with a fun project that will keep them entertained for a few hours! Making sidewalk chalk paint is a simple, safe project your little ones can handle doing themselves, and they can play with it on any outdoor surface.

The "paint" will wash away like any chalk doodle, and they'll feel extra proud of their creation since they made the chalk themselves! Here is how you can get the fun started:

You Will Need:

1 heaping tablespoon cornstarch

1 ⅓tablespoons water

Food coloring

To Make:

1. Add water to the heaping tablespoon of cornstarch and start whisking vigorously. Make sure that you are scraping from the bottom of your bowl to get all of the starch.

2. Drop food coloring in until desired hue is achieved.

3. Repeat this process for a multitude of colors.

Pour the colors into plastic cups, arm them with a paintbrush, and send them outside! They'll have homemade fun for hours!
