Dine-In Theaters In New York City

By now, we're all used to the familiar movie theater routine: you buy your ticket, grab some overpriced popcorn and soda from the concession stand, scope out a seat, and get settled. Eating anything during the movie is essentially a subconscious experience; that's why it's so easy to plow through far more popcorn than you planned to. But there are a handful of movie theaters in New York where you can actually enjoy a full meal during the film, and it turns the experience into something entirely different. There are only a couple dine-in theaters in the New York City area, but more will certainly be opening soon.

Nitehawk Cinema, Williamsburg
Have a couple cocktails before the film at one of this theater's bars, then head to your seat for a full meal. Sure, it's a little distracting to have waiters buzzing around while you're trying to enjoy a film, but the menu is solid, and there are even special themed drinks and dishes to go along with the film.

Alamo Drafthouse, Yonkers
This chain recently scrapped plans to open a location on the Upper West Side, so those looking to experience it will need to head up to Yonkers, to a theater where films also have an art-house feel. The menu is pretty expansive, and includes plenty of appetizers, burgers, salads, personal pizzas, and even brunch.

Be on the lookout for an iPic Theater opening in Fort Lee, N.J. and possibly Brooklyn next year, and a second Alamo Drafthouse coming to Brooklyn next year as well.
