The Daily Byte: I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Gelato!
Attention, gelato lovers, did you know you can actually get a degree in preparing your favorite cold confection? The Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna offers a variety of weeklong courses that vary from "core" difficulty to "advanced". But learning the craft of gelato making is not the only culinary certification available in Italy—if you're so inclined, you can enroll in the International School of Pizza, or even Espresso Academy.
Since opening the original Carpigiani Gelato University in 2003 the school has expanded globally. There are currently nine campuses ranging from Tokyo to North Carolina. The Wall Street Journal reported that the rate of enrollment at Carpigiani has increased from 4,000 to 9,000 since its debut—that's a lot of gelato. Move over Grom, it looks like we can expect to see multitude of gelato shops opening up over the next few years.
