The Daily Byte: Hotel Luxury On Wheels
There is no doubt that 2010 was the year of the food truck, in fact, this tasty mobile phenomenon topped our list of the year's biggest trends. But over in Miami's sunny South Beach, The Setai Hotel putting a new spin on the trend by opening what they're calling the world's first hotel food truck.
The Beach Trailer, as the swanky truck is being called, will allow guests and visitors to sample some of The Setai's signature dishes. We got first word on the project a month ago from the hotel's Executive Chef, David Werly, who gave us a sneak peek of what to expect. In addition to dishes, such as the Wagyu hot dog, open-faced salmon sandwich and ceviche, the truck will feature a selection of daily sushi specials. There will also be a variety of specialty cocktails, wines, and champagne, so patrons can sip away without ever having to leave the beach.
Who knows? Maybe this will catch on. Imagine a slope-side hot cocoa truck, courtesy of one of Aspen's luxurious resorts, or a wine and cheese truck sponsored by one of Napa Valley's finest hotels...
