Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka Relaunches Wine Line
Who says football and wine don't go together? While we'd think beer would be the natural choice for the NFL crowd, the legendary former coach of the Chicago Bears, Mike Ditka, is more of a wine guy, as evidenced by his new partnership with Terlato Wines.
The Huffington Post reports that Ditka will be releasing eight football-inspired wines with the Lake Bluff, Ill.-based wine company. Among the labels? "The Player" (a pinot grigio and merlot under the same name), "The Coach" (a sauvignon blanc and cabernet sauvignon), "The Hall of Famer" (a chardonnay and pinot noir), "The Icon" (a cabernet sauvignon for restaurants), and "The Champion" (a blend).
Ditka is friends with the owner of Terlato Wines, Bill Terlato, which is how the partnership was born. Ditka was also invoved with a Napa Valley wine company, Mendocino Wine Co., for six years.
