Beyoncé's World Tour Rider Revealed
Today in celebrity news, New Zealand's The Fix got an "insider" to spill on Beyoncé's rider requests for her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, and the demands, as expected, are everything you'd think a diva would want.
According to The Fix, the singer "forked out $900 for titanium straws, which will be used to drink a special alkaline water that's served at exactly 21 degrees." She also requires a hand-carved ice ball to suck on after every performance to cool her throat (which makes perfect sense to us), while asking for glass platters of almonds, oatcakes, and green-only crudites. As for junk food? It's apparently all been banned.
Of course, this isn't the first time Beyoncé's rider has been released. The Smoking Gun has a fairly old one, which shows that she demanded "juicy baked chicken: legs, wings & breast only," fresh made and delivered no more than 20 minutes before her arrival and seasoned with "fresh garlic, season salt, black pepper, and Cayenne pepper HEAVILY SEASONED!!"
Sides included steamed garlic broccoli, lightly seasoned green beans, steamed spinach, a turkey deli tray, a vegetable tray, Aquafina water (half cold, half at room temperature), Pepsi and Diet Pepsi, hot tea, rose-scented candles, and two fresh floral arrangements.
During her March Super Bowl performance, she reportedly requested $6,000 worth of imported cigars and alcohol for husband Jay-Z.
If all this sounds like a bit too much, remember that musician rider requests have been notoriously detail oriented and nitpicky, but as This American Life has pointed out, it's oftentimes to ensure that other requests (like the amount of electricity needed to power a show, or the setup of the stage) are completed as well. Considering the mad setup we saw at the Super Bowl, having one thing off could ruin a show. Also, she's Beyoncé. She can do whatever she wants.
