You never know what preservatives and chemicals are in bagged popcorn, so take the few extra minutes to make popcorn yourself. You can have any flavor you desire: caramel, honey butter, chipotle... the flavor possibilities are endless.
For your homemade popcorn you'll need:
¼ cup of olive oil
2/3 cups of popcorn kernels
3 tablespoons of butter, melted
Sea salt, to taste
To make the popcorn: Add the olive oil to a large pot, put in about 5 kernels, and cover it until they pop. Once those kernels have popped, take them out and add the full 2/3 cup of popcorn kernels. Put a lid on the pot and take it off of the heat. Let the kernels pop for 35 seconds, put the pot back on the heat, and shake the pot occasionally until the popping slows down. Take it off of the heat and let it sit for two minutes. Once the popping has stopped, take the lid off. Make sure you let all of the steam out so that the popcorn stays crisp. Add in your melted butter and serve.
Add butter mixed with cayenne pepper for a chipotle-style popcorn, add butter and caramel for caramel corn, or mix honey and butter for honey-butter popcorn. Whatever seasonings you desire, drizzle on your popcorn and enjoy.
