Beer, Just As Healthy As Wine?
Wine usually gets all the press in terms of health benefits. It's been reported to help with weight loss, reduce the risk of heart attacks, and combat certain types of cancer.
Yet, Italian scientists have discovered that beer also has cardiovascular health benefits.
Researchers at the Fondazione di Ricerca e Cura in Italy found that drinking one to two pints of beer has the same effect as drinking two glasses of wine a day for men, and one glass a day for women.
The subjects who drank beer or wine lowered their risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 31 percent, compared to a non-drinker, according to a study in the European Journal of Epidemiology.
As usual, binge drinking detracts from the health benefits, but for those who prefer hops over tannins (in moderation), you're in luck.
