  • As a writer and editor for various food publications, Sam has met accredited chefs, including Anne Burrell, Bobby Flay, and Rocco DiSpirito. She's also had opportunities to partake in restaurant openings and chef tastings at several Chicago restaurants, including Michael Jordan Steakhouse, Bohemian House, and Brass Monkey.
  • Having bartended at high-end establishments in Chicago, including the Trump Hotel and Tower and Willow Room, Sam worked with some amazing mixologists and was able to hone in on her classic cocktail repertoire.
  • Sam had the distinct honor of being asked to judge an installation of Culinary Fight Club that focused on cocktails paired with hors d'oeuvres.

Experience

Sam has 8 years of editorial experience, spending the majority of her career in both the food and beverage and the trade gift industry. She began as a writer and editor for Chef Magazine, Giftware News, and Baby & Kids Magazine before moving on to Great American Media, where she ran four magazines as managing editor for Museums & More, Gift Shop Magazine, Party & Paper, and Gift Shop Pets, which she launched. At the same time, she was a freelance writer for Food News Today. Currently, Sam works in communications for a non-profit that focuses on revitalizing Downtown Cincinnati. She's a freelance writer for Living Crue Magazine, where she's working on a series about the history of women and feminism.

Education

A graduate of Ohio University, Sam has a bachelor's degree in Specialized Studies, focusing on journalism, copywriting and advertising.
